Development

Based on the Social Learning Theory, our moral behavior is shaped by the reinforcement and punishment stimuli through the process of learning. It means that if a child was punished in past times for a particular behavior and it is faced with such a situation again, he/she is going to avoid this behavior. As a social staying, a person lives in a group or maybe a community and “tends to do actions and behave within a manner favorable to community approval.

The greatest criticism on this theory is that “it would not provide a correct overall individuality assessment. “It focuses even more on the elements perceived as adverse by the student ” it does not account for what may be deemed positive. (Social Learning Theory)

According to Kohlberg’s theory of ethical development, “there are 6 identifiable phases of moral development which could be classified in to three amounts. (Kohlberg’s levels of moral development) The pre-conventional level. In stage one particular, “people respond according to socially appropriate norms as they are told for this by a few authority figure. “This behavior is motivated by the danger or putting on punishment. Stage a couple of “is seen as a view that right tendencies means operating in their own greatest interests. (Barger, Robert In. A

Overview Of Lawrence Kohlberg’s Phases Of Moral Development) The conventional level. In stage 3 people “seek acceptance from other people’. Stage 5 is “oriented to remaining by the law and addressing the obligations of duty. (Barger, Robert N. A) The post-conventional level. Stage 5 is usually “an comprehension of social mutuality and an authentic interest in the welfare more. Level 6 is usually “based in respect pertaining to universal rules and the requirements of specific conscience. (Barger, Robert N. A) It appears that persons rarely reach stage 6 of this version and Kohlberg “had difficulty finding members who work with it. (Kohlberg’s stages of ethical development)

“One criticism of Kohlberg’s theory is that it emphasizes rights to the exclusion of other values and “may not adequately addresses the quarrels of people who benefit other meaningful aspects of actions. Jean Gilligan provides argued that the theory is definitely “male-centric and “did not really adequately describe the concerns of women. (Kohlberg’s periods of moral development) Kohlberg stated hissix periods are cultural-universal. Simpson (1974) argues that “Kohlberg’s interview employs analytic and assumptive modes of thought and language just like “justice, equal rights and reciprocity at if you are a00 of abstraction which are not valued by many people cultures. According to Bergling (1981), Kohlberg’s stages you ” four are “empirically supported in western developing countries but findings from the Bahamas and British Honduras fail to support even a level 4.
