A study of peter paul ruben s painting s perseus

Perseus

The painting Perseus and Andromeda or better known as Perseus rescues Andromeda was created by simply Peter Paul Rubens in 1622. This kind of work of art remained in Rubens’s house till his loss of life, and was then attained by and housed inside the Hermitage Art gallery in St Petersburg, Russia. This essential oil painting explains to the story of Perseus coming back from slaying Medusa just to save Andromeda. It depicts Perseus holding your head of Medusa and loosening the stores on Andromeda, while partially showing Pegasus, the goddess of wonder and Cetus the Sea List, who was slain earlier.

Perseus and Andromeda was developed by Rubens during the Flemish Baroque painting period, which will lasted coming from 1608-1700. This kind of painting period originated in Flanders, a Flemish region of Belgium. Flemish painters, in whose paintings acquired Northern and Italian affects, were the basis of this period of time, but it was Rubens who blended the 2 together and became a catalyst for this Flemish age. Oil painting was a largely exported technique in the Flemish Extraordinaire painting period, and was used on many works such as: The Liqueur sweet wine Bower, Prometheus Bound, and Venus and Adonis. Various paintings on this time period were not limited to displaying several events, nevertheless were also presented other value. A good example is Perseus and Andromeda, because it was also given political significance to symbolize abuse and freedom from enemies. The application of oil art work, Northern-Italian influences, and multiple significances help to make Perseus and Andromeda very typical of its Flemish time period.

In his art work Perseus and Andromeda, Rubens wanted to primarily portray the liberation of Andromeda through the imprisonment of Cetus the sea monster. Pegasus partially showing in the picture symbolizes the glory of Perseus slaying Medusa and Cetus, and also freeing Andromeda. I think that this work by Rubens is a crucial piece of art because it summarizes the complete tale of Perseus and Andromeda through one painting. I also believe that Cetus at the ft of Perseus and Medusa’s head in Perseus’s hands represent triumph and independence from the tyrannous rampage in the sea huge and the hideous Gorgon.

Character Essay: Hermes

The god I would really prefer to be can be Hermes, the Messenger Our god, because he is extremely loyal. This really is shown in many cases in his loyalty to Zeus, his dad, and will nearly do anything to get him without second believed. As the, Hermes was named the Messenger The almighty because he may run and fly as fast as the wind along with his winged cap and flip flops. Hermes could always receive his tasks done and deliver the messages he was designated from the gods.

Though Hermes was very faithful he had a downside, having been also the god of thieves. At the same time a newborn, his thievery was displayed when he stole the cattle coming from Apollo. When he was asked by his father, Zeus, he refused everything. Hermes continued his mischief throughout his lifestyle and more than likely tell the reality very often. Hermes also wasn’t a very good dad because his son, Autolycus, also finished up becoming a robber.

Hermes would collection a great model in today’s world because of the good characteristics he possesses. He would motivate people to demonstrate great devotion to their managers and also inspire dedication on the globe. Hermes would be a great addition into modern-day world because people would be prompted to job harder because of him, as well as the world might start becoming a much better place than ever seen before.
