He was absolutely loyal to Braddock. When his career strike rock bottom, Braddock told Gould to go find some other, even more profitable fighter to manage. However , Gould declined to turn his back in the client. Even though evidence was scant, Gould always believed in Braddock’s potential. It was Gould’s unflagging determination that guaranteed Braddock his match with Corn Griffin and then his following opponents. Though times were hard, Joe Gould always got James Braddock’s back.
