“Take in the white man’s burden/ give forth the very best ye breed of dog -“Rudyard Kipling mockingly had written in 1899, he was conveying the extreme European imperialism that took place in the 1880’s. In 1884 Africa was divided up among European nations, only two African countries continued to be independent. One could question, what the driving force lurking behind this Western imperialism was. Although technology, political and cultural triggers were factors in the Europeans imperializing Africa, ultimately the primary reason for imperialism was financial benefit due to the fact that Africa had vast resources.

Throughout the later 1700’s to the mid-1800’s the Europeans experienced developed a large number of technological improvements in which allowed them to very easily conquer Photography equipment colonies. In 1820 the Europeans obtained a treatment pertaining to the disease wechselfieber; this extremely disease got prehistorically organised them backside from going farther than the African coast. (Doc C. ) The Maxim weapon was developed simply by Europeans in 1884 which in turn enabled those to easily get over African colonies. (Doc C. )

Technical advancements allowed the Europeans to take-over Africa.

European imperialism in Africa also came up as a result of political causes. There have been seven distinct European countries with colonies in Africa, which usually created wonderful competition among the list of European colonies. (Doc A. ) Indonesia believed it needed to “prove and maintain their newly gained position simply by conquering even more colonies this created competition among the Europe. (Doc M. ) Every single nation’s satisfaction was at risk which triggered European countries to take-over African groupe as quickly and abundantly as it can be. Another driving force behind European imperialism was cultural beliefs. Europeans thought their traditions was superior to the African’s.

In the poem the White-colored Man’s Burden, Kipling demonstrates Europeans believed they were widely superior to the African’s by describing this as the white man’s “burden. (Doc F. ) The Europeans believed that they needed to take over Africa to improve their lifestyle. Though scientific advances, politics and cultural beliefs had been driving forces behind Euro imperialism in Africa, the primary force was economic. The Europeans found out the huge resources in Africa and began to transact. (Doc W. ) The Europeans wanted to obtain solutions such as platinum, ivory and rubber and trade these to benefit our economy. (Doc. D) Exports grew from 2 million pounds in 1854 to over 20 million pounds in 1900. (Doc E. ) The Europeans grew extremely prosperous from imperialism.
