Although technology, political and cultural triggers were factors in the Europeans imperializing Africa, ultimately the primary reason for imperialism was financial benefit due to the fact that Africa had vast resources.

(Doc W. ) The Europeans wanted to obtain solutions such as platinum, ivory and rubber and trade these to benefit our economy. (Doc. D) Exports grew from 2 million pounds in 1854 to over 20 million pounds in 1900. (Doc E. ) The Europeans grew extremely prosperous from imperialism.
