History is usually told through stories and this is a fact but at times, these tales are not double loyal to what really took place in history. This kind of relationship among “history” and “story” will likely be the base just for this work because I have chose to do my essay regarding one of the subject areas given which can be: “From background to story: Vlad the Impaler vs . Count Dracula”.

I chose this topic mainly because I love background I am very curious about historical character types such as Knight in shining armor Vlad Tepes, which a few critics ponder over it is one of the inspirations to the Dracula’s author, Bram Stoker. It is not necessarily sure in the event he genuinely based his character upon Vlad Tepes but I believe that there are several quotes in the book that could make an individual think that the character of Dracula can be comparable to Prince Vlad.

However , the main reason why I do think the author structured his book’s character (or at least took several inspiration to develop it) may be the title of the story itself and the character’s term: Dracula.

As I said before, Vlad the Impaler’s father was known as “Vlad Dracul” which can be translated into English because “Vlad the dragon”. The Romanian word “draw” means “dragon” and frequently it also means “the devil” or “Satan” and “ul” is the article. What’s more, the suffix “ulema” (the Romanian name of Vlad Tepes is Vlad III Dracula) means “the son of”.
