High fidelity character anaysis essay

Rob can be described as morose person who needs this excuse to always make a complaint. He’s a really pessimistic person, who cannot seem to look for a positive outlook in nearly anything. Rob is also a very self-conscious person who is not at ease with himself. This individual believes that he is lacking in in the areas he sights as important in his lifestyle. He is determined by his girl to keep him happy, and judges his life according to the woman she has with. He simply aren’t manage to become happy devoid of one.

His unhappiness pushes him to be very important and judgmental to the universe around him. He the jerky comment to almost everything he updates. All and Rob provides a weak persona which will depend on other things instead of himself to be joyful.

Rob appears to be a very pessimistic person. This individual sees almost everything in a adverse fashion because he is certainly not content with his life, and assumes it really is impossible for things to improve.

Once Rob results home after seeing Marie sing with one other man, he feels stressed out and turns to his records for a few sort of comforting escape:

Could it be so wrong, wanting to end up being home with the record collection? It’s nothing like collecting information is like collecting stamps, or perhaps beermats, or antique thimbles. There’s a entire world in here, a nicer, unsanitary, more chaotic, more relaxing, more colourful, sleazier, even more dangerous, even more loving universe than the community I stay in; there is record, and geography, and poems, and countless other things I should have examined at university, including music. (Hornby, 83)

Rob appears to feel as if his records are the only thing they can rely on. People have some sort dependence on certain impresionable things, be it a pet, friend or family member. In Rob’s case, his music is the only constant that will never let him straight down. He views a whole different world inside his music, one which will not value the true world’s standards or principles. It brings him elsewhere for a bit, anywhere which does not remind him of the gloomy things in the life. It appears to me that with individuals discouraging thoughts it drives him being very pessimistic. Without even talking to Marie he presumed right off the bat that she was going to hook up with the person she was singing with. He failed to even try to show this individual cared whatsoever. His negativity led him to give up about Marie right away, without even looking at the possible positive aspect. These activities show he has a extremely pessimistic lifestyle which is powered by his low self-pride.

Rob also seems unsatisfied with himself. Too not enough to be happy in a place where he seems he will not belong.

Now i’m here, from this stupid tiny flat, on my own, and Now i am thirty-five years of age, and I own a tiny faltering business, and my friends are not friends in any way but persons whose phone numbers I havent lost. Of course, if I returned to sleep and slept intended for forty years and woke up with no teeth to the sound of Melody A radio station in an older people’s home, I wouldn’t worry that much, because the most detrimental of lifestyle, i. e., the rest of computer, would be above. And I more than likely even have was required to kill myself. (74)

Take advantage of looks at every aspect of his your life and feels so inadequate that this individual doesn’t actually see the cause of living. He feels like he has no material in his existence. From having no accurate friends, into a failing work. All the features that he values to become a person really worth living, have failed him. I think his mother takes on an important part in Rob’s low home -esteem as she also degrades him and offers him no support. She will not even ease and comfort him following the break-up with Laura, but just criticizes and explains to him that she “would have left [him] to get on with it years ago. ” (48)

The lady demeans his job, and adds to his low self-confidence. Parents are allowed to be supportive much more unhappiness. Mom and dad are the people who are supposed to love unconditionally, but in Rob’s case apparently they just regard the negative facets of his lifestyle which certainly cannot boost his situation. He feels so insufficient because he has no one to consider or depend on. He would like to “run [himself] down, have a pity party for [himself], observe [his] inadequacies”. (72)

Rob depends on a female to keep him happy. This individual believes his woman defines him as a person, every time he could be without one he is unpleasant.

Sometimes it appears as though the only method a man can easily judge his own niceness, his own decency, is by looking at his relationships with women- or rather, with potential or current sexual associates. (68)

He judges himself according to the female he’s associated with. He will not see him self as a full person without a woman. He believes that “women will certainly save [him], business lead [him] to a better lifestyle, that they can modify and redeem [him]. ” (63) Rob is actually willing to end up being whatever his woman wishes of him. Even his relationship with Sarah Kendrew was certainly one of convenience because he had nobody else, and wanted to experience equal to his companion. Steve had made him experience inadequate and less of a person than her, so his relationship with Sarah was one where he had someone to lean on through his time of getting over her. Sarah managed to get easier to get him because she was going through a similar situation. We were holding just staying together to acquire someone to lean on, and not become alone.

He was her minute just as Steve was mine, and when they split, Sarah had sworn off men for a while, just like I had sworn off females. It built sense to swear away together, to pool the loathing from the opposite love-making and get to share a bed with someone at the same time. Our friends had been all paired off, each of our careers appeared to have toughened into rsolution, we were frightened of being still left alone throughout our lives. (29)

Rob simply couldn’t handle being exclusively. It was possible for him to help make the relationship with Sarah operate because the girl felt similar, and had a similar problems this individual did. His weak personality leads him to be based upon woman to hold him completely happy and pleased.

Rob was also a incredibly judgmental and critical person. His thoughts about music could not be challenged, as he as well evaluated woman according for their musical pursuits and beloved movies. His views had been a little severe sometimes, and he believed he was quite educated in a few areas, which usually therefore bring about his many judgments.

I’d say there was millions like me, but generally there aren’t, genuinely: lots of blokes have impeccable music style but may read, lots of blokes browse but are actually fat, lots of blokes will be sympathetic to feminism but have stupid beards, lots of men have a Woody Allen sense of humor but look like Hard woody Allen. Lots of blokes beverage too much, lots of blokes respond stupidly whenever they drive cars, lots of men get into battles, or showcase about money, or consider drugs. I don’t go of these things really; merely do OK with women, it can not as a result of virtues I possess, but because of the shadows I don’t have. (28)

Rob the comment on every possible singer, songwriter, actress/actor they can. His important attitude makes him look like a jerk. This individual acts over a people this individual criticizes for making him feel happier about himself. He has a view on everything. Besides being essential to himself, he’s important to the universe around him because he is miserable. This individual sees the negative in everything that makes him while opinionated when he is. His frustration makes him furious at every thing and everyone about him.

Most and all, Rob’s depressive, based mostly, self-conscious and critical behaviour demonstrate that he includes a weak personality. His pessimism leads to his depression, as his low self-esteem brings about his criticisms. He has a very unhappy life because he doesn’t actually live up to his own standards. He depends on a woman to generate him completely happy, which is totally unrealistic. Rob will never are able to be content because he often manages to criticize and demean anything that’s taking place around him.
