Even though the Constitution at first glance seems to are at odds of immigration reform, in fact that facilitates change and even mandates it (Masugi, 2005). The Constitution claims that all individuals be measured, and against the law immigrants count number as persons. This thought is maintained the sort of the great American dilemma through which “other persons” -slaves – were counted as three-fifths of people, therefore raising the power of the slave declares in the House of Representatives. Slavery, one of the biggest tragedies of American history, warns of the injustice of illegal migrants. In 1907, Theodore Roosevelt reinforced immigration (Masugi, 2005): “In the first place we have to insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, this individual shall be cured on an actual equality with everyone else, for it is a great outrage to discriminate against any such gentleman because of creed, or birthplace, or origins. ” The framers in the Constitution thought that migrants should be backed as long as they will adopt American civic ideals and the American heritage because their own.

Although both sides with this debate have valid items, my opinion is the fact current migrants laws fail to adequately addresses immigration complications. This produces problems intended for immigrants and the families, who have are forced to have “underground. ” National reliability is also a priority, and it is critical that all people surviving in the U. S. will be accounted for and protected by fundamental rights and protections offered by the Constitution.
