Motivation can be described as a process that accounts for a persons intensity, direction and persisitence of attempts towards attaining a goal (Robbins, 2004). Whilst general determination is concerned with motivation towards achievement of any aim, this conventional paper will be discussing motivation regarding organizational goals, as primary is on work related behavior (Robbins, 2004).

According to the definition, there are 3 important elements related to determination.

Intensity is involved with how much difficulty a person tries to acquire a goal. But in order pertaining to intensity to trnaslate into better performance it really must be channeled in the right direction. So , the quality of the depth is very vital. Persistence is yet another dimension to motivation. It is just a measure of the length of time a person can preserve his or her initiatives.

There have been several theories about motivation, invented and examined multiple times.

But the theory I get most relevant and important to a workplace, the work be of any kind of nature, is a expectacy theory, put forward by simply Victor Vroom (Robbins, 2004).

Expectancy theory focuses on three main associations. The effort-performance relationship, performance-reward relationship and the reward-personal goal relationship.

Much more practical conditions, expectancy theory says that after an employee sets in work o his job it can be partly because he believes his effort will translate into better performance, but this kind of performance alone would be pointless to him, until and unless you will find obvious benefits attached to better performance, i. at the. rewards. These rewrds may be monetary or nonmonetary and may vary from a promotion or shell out increment into a pat for the back from the boss and a word or two of appreciation from the supervisor. This would motivate the workforce, while every individual will certainly perceive that with this job he’d be able attain his personal desired goals.

Moreover, modern day leadership theories put focus on leader-follower marriage as in Innovator Exchange Theory (Robbins, 2004). As workers become more energized, leader-follower relationship becomes even more important and modern-day leadership ideas provide important information regarding this.

So , basically, leadership contains a huge function to play when it comes to the employees’ attitude toward work. Because, if a innovator can motivate and motivate his or her supporters, it may help bring out a far more positive frame of mind from them, and ultimately this will have a good impact on the productivity in the company.
