Like most People in the usa, my family comprises of many different ethnic groups. My
moms area is Irish Protestant ancestry. My fathers side is usually English
ancestry and a small amount of Native American descent via his mother. There is a lot of
in which I really do not understand because my father does not find out who his dad can be. He was
followed by a man named David Mitchell, this is how my last-name comes from. My own
grandmother perished and never advised my dad whom his father was. My dad could find out
from his birth license, which is sealed in Albany, who his dad is usually. He does not have
desire to do this though. In the summer, We tried to find out about my
loved ones ancestry. I actually only researched on my moms side since it is easier. This
is for two reasons, first my mothers parents are continue to alive. Second because
they will came to the United States only about a hundred years ago. My
grandparents family members came from North Ireland. My own grandparents had been born
in the usa. My grandpa brought me personally over my own cousins residence because
the girl had a backup of my own great grandmums birth qualification. This informed me what
area she was from. We also found away that I acquired other friends that live in Canada
that were from Northern Ireland. Many Irish people immigrated to Canada mainly because
it was cheaper than going to the United States. Your woman told me that they would have
additional information of family that hails from Northern Ireland. My grandfather gave
me a book called The World Publication of Craigs which is his last name. That
gave me areas to write to for further information and also gave me addresses of
all the Craigs all over the world. I actually learned that my personal grandmothers family
is via Belfast and my grandfathers family is coming from a area called Bellymena.
They are both found in the region of Antrim in Northern Ireland. That they
descended coming from Presbyterian Scottish who resolved in North Ireland in the
seventeenth 100 years. In doing additional research I found that the Irish, both
Protestant and Catholic, was the greatest immigration group in the United States.
At one level there were more Irish in the United States than in Ireland in europe. The
Irish immigrated in two surf. The first wave was Scotch Irish from 1760 1775.
That they found this easy to preserve old world ways because they arrived over in such a
huge group. This is due to they completed into towns. They were running from
economic distress and religious problems since Irish laws preferred Anglicans over
Presbyterians and Catholics. That they wanted to get hold of land and to make a profit in
the New Community. The second wave came around 1845 1849. They were Irish
Catholics. The reason why that they migrated to the United States in such mass
amounts is because to begin overpopulation and after that because of the Great Famine.
The failure from the staple plant, the potato, caused various Irish to starve to
death. When my forefathers migrated to the United States throughout the turn of the
century, like most immigrants that they came for an easier way of lifestyle. At the time in
history, Ireland was slowly getting over the Potato Famine and experiencing
England for independence. My children had an convenient transition in america
because they will already experienced family in New York in addition to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Unlike Catholics which confronted discrimination, my children didnt because they
were Protestant. The Catholics were discriminated due to fear the fact that
unskilled Irish Catholic will displace American craftsmen. Also because the
slums inhabited partly by the Irish were undermining the international locations values.
Every social issue from immortality and addiction to alcohol to lower income and economical
upheaval was blamed about immigrant Irish Catholics. The region was Simple
prejudiced. On my fathers side, I know very little. I use learned that my
ancestry works all the way to the 17th century from England. They
were main people in the New World trying to find wealth and
opportunity. I had formed ancestry that fought in the American Wave. I also have
Native American ancestral roots from Cherokee and Iroquois. My grandmums last
identity was Partington, which is a term of the aristocracy in England. These people were
loyalists. There was a Partington that passed away in the Municipal War at the Battle of
Gettysburg. There was clearly another ancestral by the name of Terry that was obviously a commander
in the Civil Warfare. This is most I know about my dads family. I do believe that
any most of our traditions happen to be Americanized. All of us go to a Simple church
have turkey about Thanksgiving, place a real Xmas tree up at The holiday season and
meet on birthdays. Our family simply does not have that many big
traditions that stand out. Though on Christmas Eve all of us go over mother and father
friends home and we take in German meals, even though we could not German born.
