The world through which I reside in the year 2050 is only slightly different than the one we lived in fifty years back. Communication technology at this point is really the only thing that has advanced in great jumps.

In 2050, there are no more wiring used in communication. No cellphone lines, simply no cables. People have a satellite television transmitter inside their homes which you can use to send live video/audio feeds to anywhere in the world quickly and effortlesly.

This also means that the Net is no longer based upon modems, as we knew these people at the time for the century.

Video imagers that let people to talk while discovering who you are speeking to have changed the telephones of the twentieth century. All banking, purchasing and personal organization can now be required for the comfort and privacy of your personal home. This might be the single most amazing factor about this period. Companies like FedEx, and UPS have become shipping titans of this time, with an incredible number of employees and tens of thousands of office buildings all over the world.

These companies are what generate living in 2050 so one of a kind. With more persons spending a fraction of the time going out to shop, shipping businesses like these are definitely the only way millions of people might survive.

Back in the early 1980’s, I remember watching a show called Aliens. I remember this kind of well simply because there was a landscape in the movie when Ripley, the main figure, used a card put into a videophone that allowed her to determine who the girl was speaking with. At the time I used to be amazed at the special effects through this movie. Obviously all we need do is to speak the name and city of anybody we want to talk to so that the connection computer can hear it and we are connected instantly.

We no longer have to worry about garbled sales and marketing communications, or terminology barriers with the latest translator technology. Sure, the interpraters sound sort of boxy and computerize, but in time I do believe that even these pests will be figured out. All in all, 2050 is a fantastic time, and new things will probably be discovered daily.
