There are many theories of leadership which can help make a move smoother. Backup theory and situational theory are two such theories which claims that no-one leadership style can go well with all situations but there is several difference among these two ideas. Leaders need to understand that they do not be facing the same kind of circumstances each day thus they must be willing to undertake a flexible style that can be changed according to the circumstance at hand. This can be quite a lot like situational theory of management with a single major big difference. Contingency theory maintains that some instances a leader who also appears quite effective and good in one situation may not locate himself everything that effective within a different condition simply because leadership is contingent upon some elements. Situational management on the other hand declares that market leaders can choose certain patterns and characteristics for selection of situations and alter their very own style appropriately. A person who subscribes to situational leadership theory might find himself becoming more effective if he adopts several attitude and behavior depending on a new scenario. Someone who is determined by contingency theory will however be able to accept that he might not be successful and effective at all times (Blanchard, 1999). Interior promotions have their downsides so do outsiders taking over essential positions. Equally, internal campaign has many benefits to that as well. For example a person who is definitely promoted inside understands the organizational culture very well. He knows the needs of his staff, the problems which exist in the business, and the targets that the company seeks to achieve. An incomer may not be mindful of all this and may make serious errors or perhaps may find adjusting process really hard. But with inner promotion, one risk is breakdown of communication. While communication should actually become better since internal advertising occurs, there could be a likelihood of resentment and hostility which may lead to break down. This can however be overcome with good leadership schooling and better communication abilities. With an outsider this kind of a breakdown is definitely not feared but there are numerous other hazards which significantly outweigh the huge benefits associated with introducing an incomer to the firm.
