Summer season rain article essay

Lack of connection with nature while others has dangerous impacts around the overall society. John Foulcher depicts the concept of the lack of connection of our culture with the Mother Nature and with others through his composition “Summer Rain. Not only this this individual also signifies that we are not only blowing the humanity away but also condemning character. Foulcher begins his composition with an ironic theme ‘Summer Rain’ which usually creates expectations of nature, happiness, cleansing and beauty but instead we come across disconnection coming from nature, traffic congestion and pollution.

Our society plays an important role inside the destruction of nature. David sets the frustrating and depressing sculpt of the poem by beginning from an accident and with the use of unnecessary repetition, “Clutters to capture the idea of aggravation that this individual gets after seeing an accident on the highway. The idea of staying trapped over a highway following an accident, where the cars prevent one following your other and make the highway congested can be shown by the use of simile “like abacus beads.

Foulcher personifies the ‘sunlight scrawls’ to reinforce the idea of have difficulties and air pollution as the sunlight is eager to come out but the pollution is stopping it from this. This thought of pollution and degradation shown so far backlinks back to the thought of us playing a crucial role in the break down of mother nature as humans are the one that produce pollution and weaken nature. While using fate of industrialisation, human life has become monotonous causing truncated connection with nature and loss of interactions with others, as the poet hammers him through the road and instead of seeing nature about him perceives the downtown sprawl. The poet invitations us in to the poem by the use of second person ‘You’ to sense the depressing sculpt se by him and what he could be going through. Foulcher uses the metaphor “sub-division houses-teacups/ of colour by television set which evokes the image of overcrowded suburbia and the disconnection from the characteristics. John as well comments around the monotony of life.

“Steams rising by ovens and showers just like mist across a swampland Foulcher gives vivid imagery of disconnection from character as he sees steams by ovens and pollution but not the swamplands and showers which leads back in the idea of loss of connection. Steve reinforces the idea of monotony of life by using metaphor “the cricket appears of noises and cutlery which backlinks back to the monotony of life and highlights the absence of character as he hears the sound of cutlery but is not the sound of crickets. Furthermore the poet talks aboutthe children playing and remarks on the boredom of existence as the children are the just one enjoying the afternoon while the adults happen to be busy in maintaining their quotidian pattern leading to the notion of life circuit. Foulcher demonstrates the damage university is imposing on the children “Stay outdoors, bruised with dirt/ and school squeezing play and that the school is bringing those to the same routine of your life.

He feedback on the frustration of the kids as they look for a way to take advantage of the afternoon. Moving on, he even more comments for the innocence of kids and the society’s effect on them as they would grow old and be one of them, violent and unhuman stuck in traffic. The poet ends the poem by personifying the rainfall “As the wreck is cleared, rain trembles/ through the road and reveals the weakness of nature and he inverts the vibrant image of rainfall as no cleansing takes place and no pleasure is experienced. “And the charred, unbroken road by the use of a strong adjective ‘unbroken’ this individual illustrates the never ending pattern of existence and how the society is busy moving into this monotonous life. The continuing interrupted connection of humans while using nature has had devastatingly destructive impacts within the relationship that humans kind with other folks which has been intended through the composition “Summer Rain where Foulcher visualise the hustle and bustle of human lifestyle through embedding effective graceful techniques.
