Abraham Lincoln is regarded as the greatest chief executive of America. This is because of his flawless vision of future and leadership characteristics. There are many illustrations that what is fact that this individual knew precisely how to lead.
Having been a person from a humble qualifications. There were many people in the office who were more experienced and better qualified than him. But at times of any kind of crisis scenario, they was missing the degree of conviction that Lincoln possessed.
His unshakeable confidence made him confident and, his assurance made others to believe that what he can doing is right and they naturally followed him.
Referring to the war of Gettysburg, 1863 it has been rightly stated in U-S-Histoty. com that “His overall conviction that he was taking the proper opportunity enabled him to persevere while others recoiled at the enormous cost and suffering caused by the conflict, leading those to entertain thoughts of peacefulness without victory. (para. 13)
Lincoln’s political job was in a great age wherever, overblown oratory by the politicians was a norm.
But Lincoln, the best choice did not trust in this. This individual tried to put the most intricate things in very simple and humorous way. He used imagery, anecdotes, stories and symbols in his speech that left a long-lasting impact on his audience. Since he was capable to communicate efficiently people acquired motivated. Therefore his exceptional communication skill was certainly one of his most significant leadership attributes.
Lincoln did not preach whatever rather attempted to put common sense to a problem situation, which in turn automatically enthusiastic others. This was another quality that made him such a great leader. The lines spoken by simply Lincoln himself brings frontward this truth, more evidently:
“Certainly the Negro is usually not each of our equal in color”perhaps certainly not in many other respects; still, in the right to put into his mouth the bread that his individual hands possess earned, dr. murphy is the equal of every other man. In showing that that more has been given to you, you can not be justified in taking away, the little which has been given to him. If Goodness gave him but small, that small let him enjoy. (D’Souza, para. 16)
Lincoln shown different leadership styles in various situations. Yet most of the moments he is considered as an autocratic leader. Because of his superb conviction, occasionally he would not listen to any person and did what this individual thought was right, that has been the reason why persons sometimes compared with his activities and decisions. Though his conviction demonstrated right, instead of being an autocratic leader in the event he would have shown more of participative leadership features he would include gained the same amount of achievement but lower opponents. Participative leadership requires lots of politics courage.
Nevertheless being an autocratic leader requires an even greater sum of personal courage along with personal valor too. Carrying out what 1 thinks is correct, ignoring other’s point of view brought him success in many situations but currently taking so much of risk for the betterment of his countrymen without the anxiety about blame that he might acquire if the decision proves to become a failure is usually not our cup of tea.
The amount of dignity, will power and courage that Abraham Lincoln shown is what units him separate and makes him superior to all the leaders of the world.
