Saint Francis of Assisi (1182-1226) was created into a rich family in Assisi, Italy, the child of a towel merchant. Francis received very little formal education and during his youth was mostly preoccupied with enjoying yourself. As a young man, he was popular, captivating, enjoyed sensible jokes and was usually the life with the party.
