Dual standards all women should know composition

For this publication analysis I chose to read a book from this set of books that hasn’t been stated much in class. We have been speaking about God and topics that are more debatable in culture. I browse the book He’s a Guy, She’s a Slut, and 49 Different Double Specifications Every Woman Ought to know by Jessica Valenti. This book was readable with Valenti’s short works and thoughts on modern feminism, stereotypes, and heightening one’s awareness to pervasive myths about women.

Double criteria are nothing new. Women deal with them daily. Take the common truism that women who rest around will be sluts although men are studs.

Not one of the information was actually unexpected or suprising to my opinion because it’s all true. Every females is o by the way she talks, the way she dresses, her character, etc, while a man isn’t actually stereotyped individuals think is actually ok for men to do the items they do, that this makes him look like a stud not a gamer.

The examples Valenti uses will be familiar and widespread: he’s tough, she actually is a tomboy; he’s a bachelor, she has a spinster; he’s angry, she’s PMSing; he’s effective, she’s a showoff. Some of the concerns I was seeking to answer the moment reading this publication were am i not a feminist? What can easily feminism perform for me? This guide made me know I are a feminist. I believe men and women should all have equal rights and options. Some people might not want to admit they can be feminist since they think that feminists will be mean, angry, man hating, hairy, lesbians, but they seriously aren’t. In every of fact feminism identifies movements targeted at establishing and defending equal political, monetary, and sociable rights and equal opportunities for women. Several questions that contain arisen are why is it that men develop distinguished and sexily gray as they era while ladies just get saggy and haggard? Isn’t that unfair that working mums are labeled bad for concentrating on their professions while we shake our heads in disbelief whenever we hear about the rare stay at home father?
