Robert frost s poem the road thesis

Robert Ice, Poem Research, Literary, A Worn Course

Excerpt coming from Thesis:

Choices known as roads that appear to be similar are more very clear because they will allow us to understand that many choices in life are not black and white but gray. In spite of that, all of us still must decide which best option. The exacto forest using its paths presents life and the seemingly trivial choices we all make every day.

The rhyme scheme from the poem is usually ABAAB and it is made up of several stanzas with five lines in every single stanza. Every single line of the poem offers nine syllables and the scansion of the composition is four feet per line. Ice employs the thought of sound in “The Highway Not Used. ” Stabreim appears while using words discolored, travel, and traveler and grassy and passing. Assonance appears with many of the rhymes, including wooden, could, stood, lay, day, way, sigh, and by. Frost uses these literary processes to convey a hard issue throughout the delicacy of poetry.

The poem is intended as advice because once we make a choice we never can go back and that we are doing well to never appear back in regret but instead remain assured. In addition , we need to never be inclined to take the easy road even though it looks convenient. The poet person admits that he had taken the path that was “grassy and needed wear” (8), indicating that the less traveled path may well hold more excitement and intrigue. Our paths produce us who we are and the poet thinks he made your best option. The last stanza might be uncertain, but it is not pessimistic.

The poet person writes:

should be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere age range and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- took the one less moved by. (16-20)

While the poet person could not really know what the additional path could have brought him, he will not regret the option he made. This last stanza reveals that the poet is positive and curious.

Robert Frost’s composition, “The Highway Not Used, ” is centered on choices and how our alternatives shape who we are and who we become. We cannot find out where almost all roads lead and the best we can perform is decide and enjoy that decision. We are able to look back again with question without being filled with regret nevertheless the most important factor is leftover confident in our choices. The poet helps us recognize that our selections do not control us which we can make the best of them with the proper frame of mind, which usually does make or break your chances of getting hired.
